The goal of MHZH.org is to contribute significantly to the healing and well-being of victims and survivors, fostering a society where the cycle of domestic violence is broken, and individuals can rebuild their lives with strength and resilience.
MERLANDE PIERRE
FOUNDER AND CEO
Merlande Pierre is a highly dedicated individual who has cultivated a strong educational foundation to support her passion for empowering victims of domestic violence. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource development from the University of Minnesota, demonstrating her commitment to understanding the complexities of human growth and development. Additionally, Ms. Pierre earned her first master’s degree in Economic Development in 2016 from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and Economics).
Ms. Pierre’s educational journey reached its pinnacle with the attainment of a master’s in social work from the University Rio Grande Valley in 2020. It is a testament to her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those affected by violence.
Ms. Pierre’s commitment to advocacy and support for victims of domestic violence led her to establish MeinZuhause Group Homes in 2017. This initiative reflects her visionary approach to providing round-the-clock services, advocacy, and shelter for victims of violence. The original shelter, based in Berlin, Germany, housed twelve “12” women and children. It showcased her hands-on experience in creating safe spaces for those in need. Her leadership in MeinZuhause Group Homes is characterized by a profound understanding of the importance of safe and trusting relationships, coupled with services that uphold principles of respect, confidentiality, compassion, autonomy, and self-determination.
Looking ahead, Ms. Pierre envisions a future where her impact extends even further. Her goals include expanding the reach and effectiveness of MeinZuhause Group Homes, ensuring that more individuals find solace, support, and empowerment within its walls. As a seasoned speaker and activist, Ms. Pierre aims to increase awareness around the issues of domestic violence, fostering a community that actively works towards prevention and intervention.
Driven by a desire to empower women and children towards independence, Ms. Pierre is committed to refining and enhancing the services offered by MeinZuhause Group Homes.
